Drumchapel Community Credit Union Ltd.

Drumchapel Credit Union was Established 52 years ago in 1970.  Widely know as the 1^st Credit Union in Scotland. Drumchapel Credit Union is situated in a typical Housing Estate in the west of the city of Glasgow.

The Credit Union is set-up in an old Scout Hall, it is surrounded by the local community. The common Bond was anyone who lived in the G15 postcode area, but due to a lot of the housing stock being demolished and people being reallocated to other areas of the city.  The common bond was changed to include anyone who lives or works within the G (Glasgow) postcode area.   

Drumchapel Credit Union remains very much Community minded and retains much of the old ethos of “Providing high quality community financial services and access to low-cost credit to all who live and work in the common bond”

Recent developments have seen the Credit Union turn to a more digital approach to allow services to be maintained even during the Covid lockdown.

Membership is approximately 2,800 adult members and 250 juniors.

Shares are approx.. £4.2Million and Loans Balances of approx.. £2.1million.

Carntyne & Riddrie Credit Union Ltd

We are a financial co-operative that exist for the benefits of our members. Because we’re member-led rather than shareholder led, we make decisions that focus on meeting the needs of our members and their communities.

Carntyne and Riddrie Credit Union aims to serve the whole community including children and young people. We have a specially designed savings account for young people under the age of 18. Through membership at  the Credit Union, children and young people in the community will learn from an early age about sensible money management.   

Dumbarton Credit Union Ltd

Dumbarton Credit Union is a community credit union serving those who live or work in the local areas.  Although our common bond is the ‘G’ postcode we concentrate mainly on G82 & G84.  We provide savings and loans and also have an active schools collections.  Established in 1990 we are a permanent fixture in Dumbarton’s town centre.  Having moved many times in rented property we are now ensconced in our own purchased premise. We complement our small core staff with a large number of volunteers who support our credit union in various roles delivering personal, local service for our members’ needs.
