Drumchapel Community Credit Union Ltd.
Drumchapel Credit Union was Established 52 years ago in 1970. Widely know as the 1st Credit Union in Scotland. Drumchapel Credit Union is situated in a typical Housing Estate in the west of the city of Glasgow.
The Credit Union is set-up in an old Scout Hall, it is surrounded by the local community. The common Bond was anyone who lived in the G15 postcode area, but due to a lot of the housing stock being demolished and people being reallocated to other areas of the city. The common bond was changed to include anyone who lives or works within the G (Glasgow) postcode area.
Drumchapel Credit Union remains very much Community minded and retains much of the old ethos of “Providing high quality community financial services and access to low-cost credit to all who live and work in the common bond”
Recent developments have seen the Credit Union turn to a more digital approach to allow services to be maintained even during the Covid lockdown.
Membership is approximately 2,800 adult members and 250 juniors.
Shares are approx.. £4.2Million and Loans Balances of approx.. £2.1million.
